Louise Marie Nugent
Ocean City, NJ – Nugent, Louise Marie (nee Tuerk), 89, of Ocean City, NJ, triumphed over her long battle with Alzheimer’s disease surrounded by the love of her family on Monday, February 7, 2022. She was born in 1933 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Charles and Katherine Tuerk. It was there that she met the love of her life, Lawrence J. Nugent, Jr., whom she married and had six children. They resided in Maryland for several years, but returned to their Pennsylvania roots and settled in Washington’s Crossing, Bucks County. They spent their summers in Ocean City, New Jersey and eventually retired to their home there. They enjoyed 64 years of marriage until Lawrence passed away in 2015. Louise was the ultimate homemaker and hostess. She enjoyed cooking for her famous gatherings of family and friends. Her kind blue eyes and infectious smile made people feel comfortable and loved wherever she was and wherever she went. She shared her love of the beach and boating with her children and grandchildren, who were her greatest joy. “Big Mom Mom” was the life of every party and was “Mrs. Claus” from Pop Pop’s “Santa.” Both have made Christmas magical year after year. She is survived by her six children; son Lawrence, III “Ted” (Cheri Nugent); his daughter Kimberley; sons David and William (Patricia Bryan); daughters Sharon (Marc Gumbas) and Mary (Paul Gilbert). grandchildren Brittany Teschner, John Nathan Nugent, Jeffrey Teschner, Tabitha Gilbert, Rileigh Nugent and Harrison Gilbert; great-granddaughter, Brynnleigh Louisa VanderWick; sister-in-law Nancy Vanderslice (Richard), and all her godchildren, nieces and nephews. Please join us in celebrating his life for a funeral service on Monday morning February 14, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery, Philadelphia PA. Lunch to follow immediately. In lieu of flowers, the family would request that any contributions be made in Louise Nugent’s honor to the Alzheimer’s Association. A memorial mass will be celebrated later in his memory. Arrangements from George H. Wimberg Funeral Home, Linwood – Ventnor. Condolences can be extended to the family at ghwimberg.com.
