Fans of Larry the Cable Guy and Bass Pro Shops were treated to a real treat on Wednesday, March 30. Not only were they able to sail through the World’s Fishing Fair, a celebration of Bass Pro Shops’ 50 years in the industry, but they also found comic relief from one of America’s favorite comedians.

Larry the Cable Guy is best known for his stand-up comedy, TV appearances, and PIXAR’s friendliest tow truck, Mater – but what many discovered during the evening is that Larry is a big fan and dear friend of hunting and fishing magnate, Johnny. Morris. In fact, one of Larry’s biggest sketches on his Blue Collar Comedy Tour took place in the Bass Pro Shops.

“Johnny is such a good guy. I don’t know how you can’t love Johnny Morris,” Larry smiles.

According to Larry, Morris has built Bass Pro Shops to benefit local communities and provide fair employment. “I don’t even know if he’s making any money from it,” joked Larry.

Morris recently received recognition from Forbes ranking him the world’s 424th billionaire with a net worth of $6.5 billion. According to Larry, Morris is no ordinary billionaire.

“He’s become this rich guy and he’s the kind of billionaire you want to see…who actually cares about other people and does things to help other people,” Larry shared. “All billionaires should be like Johnny Morris.”

Larry filled the evening with jokes about his grandmother’s love for Bass Pro Shops, among other food for thought. For a full video interview with Larry the Cable Guy, visit the Marshfield Mail Facebook page.
