Gusts of wind hit Marina Del Rey

MARINA DEL REY, Calif. – Wind gusts are intensifying in Southern California and forecasters are expecting windy conditions through Friday afternoon.

Northeast winds are expected to blow between 25 and 35 mph with gusts of up to 60 mph, according to the National Weather Service.

The NWS has issued a wind advisory for the Los Angeles County coast, including downtown Los Angeles. The cities of Ventura, Oxnard, Camarillo, Malibu, Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, Hollywood and Long Beach were also included.

The strongest winds were expected to hit from Oxnard to Malibu, the NWS reports. The warning is in effect until 3 p.m. Friday.

“Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects and make driving difficult, especially for high-level vehicles,” according to the NWS. “Tree branches could be cut down and some power outages could result.”

Drivers are advised to be extra careful, especially people driving large vehicles. Outdoor objects must also be secured.

“Gusty northerly winds will develop on Thursday, then turn northeast on Friday with warming temperatures through Saturday,” according to the NWS. “Temperatures are expected to remain above normal until early next week.”

Antelope Valley felt the breeze on Wednesday as a wind advisory was in effect until midnight. Forecasters said westerly winds were expected to be between 20mph and 30mph with gusts up to 50mph.
