Fisherman’s body found after Florida fishing accident

Two anglers went fishing on Yale Lake in Eustis, Fla., near the Harris Chain of Lakes, but only one returned on Saturday, July 2, 2022. A single-boat accident was reported around 3 p.m. Saturday. Details are unclear as to the cause of this crash which is still under investigation. The search continued for two days, with the missing fisherman’s body found on Monday, July 4, 2022. Local authorities identified the fisherman as Nicholas Kenley.

“This was a single vessel accident, which is currently under investigation,” said Chad Webber of the Florida Wildlife Commission. “We have witness statements from the person who was on the boat with Kenley, and we are trying to piece together what happened.

“There was an individual who was picked up by a good boat from Samaritans, and they brought him to one of the docks. The Lake County Sheriff’s Office came back to begin search and rescue efforts from the missing person. His body was recovered on Monday.

Kenley was an avid bass fisherman and the prayers of our bass fishing community go out to his family during this heartbreaking tragedy. There is a gofundme page setup to help the family with their funeral expenses. He was 38 years old.
